Sarawak Bloggers Talk: A Different Perspective

Saturday. May 21st, 2011.

My watch was already 7:20pm when I reached Supreme Hotel, Kuching to attend the Sarawak Bloggers Talk organized by Willie Esther from In fact, this is my 1st time attending such a talk conducted & organized by a blogger to a blogger and what makes it more meaningful to me was, this talk is exclusively for bloggers from Sarawak. What an honor.

The 3 and a half hour session was a wonderful talk, presenting speakers such as Cyril Dason, the faounder of Sarawak Bloggers, Willie Esther, a die hard blogger and owner of as the organizer cum speaker and also Alvin Leong, an internationally known photographer, owner of Alvin Leong Photography, founder of Alvin Leong Academy of Photography and my mentor :).

All these charismatic figure really does spark my motivation in blogging and photography. Check these photos to see who they are:

That’s Cyril, the founder of Sarawak Bloggers. A very well known platform exclusively for bloggers from the Land of Hornbill to be well known and well informed on the happenings and virtually everything about and on Sarawak. Cyril gave a talk on Sarawak Blogger website and portal, its mission, vission and what does it takes to join Sarawak Blogger. A very powerful platform for bloggers like me.

That’s Willie Esther. An educator by profession and the owner of Personally I’ve known him since childhood because he’s my cousin but what makes me envy him is that in just a couple of years, he has become a very well known blogger from Sarawak and earning passive incomes from his blog. He present the talk on How To Increase Blog Readership and lots of useful tips on how to make our blog accessible frequently on the search engines.Owh! by the way, he’s also the one who inspires me to found PreciousMad Photography :).

And this is “The” Alvin Leong himself. The masterclass photographer and very well known internationally and he’s from Sarawak. A very inspirational figure. My former employer and my mentor for wedding photography. For the night, he talked about Photojournalism and what differ photojournalism from other field of photography and how does its relate to blogging. How to capture stunning photos to post on our blog and what it takes to capture beautiful and meaningful photos. Photos that tell stories just by looking at it.

Overall, I really enjoy and learned a lot lot lot of tips from the talk and I wish we could have more of this kind of events in the future. To the speakers, Cyril Dason, Willie Esther and Alvin Leong, loads of thanks for the tips and guides given during the talk and off the talk and will surely take into accounts those tips to ensure our blog to continually be HEARD all over the world.

Can’t wait for the next event. An outing perhaps ;).

  1. Dear Cousin,

This is indeed a sharing of knowledge activity which we want all Sarawak Bloggers to benefit. We hope more people will read blogs from Sarawak after this. Don’t forget to try out the tips. And, if you have something to share with the rest of us, you can organise a talk too. We surely will support and attend your talk.

By the way, last year, we organised two photography lessons. And hopefully, this year, we will organise outing like you said.

    Have a nice day.

    • Thanks for the comment & info, Willie. Will try to plan some activities for us to get together again someday. If you guys have any events in the future, I’ll surely will join after this. Can’t wait for the next one 🙂

      Thanks again.

  2. Good post. I learn something new and challenging on blogs I stumbleupon
on a daily basis. It will always be helpful to read through articles from other authors and practice
    something from other websites.
