First of all, a million thanks to the Sarawak Tourism Board and Sarawak Bloggers Community for giving the opportunity and honor to PreciousMadPhoto to join the media team again for the THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEARS! Yay~~! To cover the greatest music festival in Borneo, the Rainforest World Music Festival 2014. This year marks the 17th edition of the Rainforest World Music Festival. One of the 25 best international music festivals in the world, held on the 3rd largest island in the world! THIS IS BORNEO!
Since the first RWMF that I cover 2 years ago, I’ve been posting the coverage in news format articles. Some might consider that as a good piece of packed information, but some might think that this kind of writing is too long to read till the end. What about this year we try a different approach? Something more familiar, something more friendlier, something more informative yet simpler. This time around, we’re going to write it in a Q&A format. Perhaps something that most people if not everyone wants or needs to know about the Rainforest World Music Festival. Just like the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) kind of thing.
Lets get started!
Owh! but wait. Who are we going to interview?
Who else if its not the author/narrator/writer of this blog. Mr. Madcat himself. *smug*
Great. So, Mr. Madcat. We understand that this year is the third consecutive years that you’ve been selected as a media representative for Sarawak Bloggers to cover the RWMF. How do you feel about that? Was there any differences with this year’s RWMF and the previous years?
Haha… I feel like a celebrity now. Being interviewed randomly by my own blog. Well, personally I would like to thank the Sarawak Tourism Board and Sarawak Bloggers Community for the opportunity. I really feel honored and blessed. Out of all 20 applicants, only 10 were selected but in the end only 8 turns out for the event including myself.
I would say its not fair to compare the differences between this year’s RWMF with the previous years, because each year that I attended the event, each of them have their own magical feelings and they gives different experiences to me. Each year RWMF never fails to surprise me with their performers line up and set up.
This year however, there was a big life changing experience happened to me. I finally met my crush hehe.
Aww~….that is so sweet. Do we know her? Is she kinda celebrity?
Hahaha… Hell no! I’m not gonna tell you guys. Let it be a time where who this person is to be revealed. Let it be a mystery for the time being.
Fine, lets skip the details there. Anyway, how much did you pay for the tickets? Or did you make a run for it while giving finger to the gate keeper?
Hahaha…you wish! Actually, as a media representative we are entitled for free 3 day passes to cover the event. Thanks to the Sarawak Tourism Board for the arrangement and the privilege. For party goers, the tickets goes as follows:
Wow! Isn’t that kinda expensive?
Oh no. Totally in the contrary. Did you know that there are 9 workshops hosted per day on 3 different places starting at 2pm till 4pm, 2 showcases at the Theater, also at the same time and 6 concerts per night at 7.30pm to midnight. In addition, this year they have an interesting and interactive RWMF community drum circle class at 5pm to 6pm everyday. Basically, you’re paying a very reasonable price of RM10 for each of the workshops and night concerts for a single day pass. Isn’t that cool?
What else do you found interesting during the RWMF this year?
Owh! This year we had a beach party dinner for the opening ceremony for the RWMF. God! That was really awesome. The weather was hot and humid that night but we really had lots of fun. Let me show you some of the photos during that night:
And this is what happened after the dinner. Readers, please reminded that this act was performed in a very controlled environment and with the supervision of professionals. You are strongly advised not to copy or replicate this action at your home by any means. Do it at your own risk.
Awesome! We suppose that sums up the day. Before we part this chapter of the interview, would you mind to picture yourself having fun or draw how you enjoy the opening day of RWMF this year?
Sure. It’s like….
On the next chapter, we will talk more about the workshops during the RWMF and also will check out more awesome photos from our beloved Mr. Madcat during the festival. Don’t forget to like it, fav it and share it. See you guys very soon.
